CALL ME BAD BLOOD

Doc O'Lena x Christy Jay

1993-2020

     Reference Sire

Sadly, in the fall of 2020, Call Me Bad Blood passed on to eternal green pastures.

We feel truly privileged to have had the opportunity to own this tremendous sire and care for him in his retirement. Bad Blood's list of attributes and accomplishments was long. He will be truly and greatly missed, but his charisma and abilities live on in his progeny.

We have reserved a very limited amount of frozen semen for the public. If you are interested in breeding, please contact us for more information.

During his career, Bad Blood acquired $11,000 NRCHA and $2,399 NCHA lifetime earnings with very limited showing. He also earned his AQHA ROM.

He carried Bobby Ingersoll to the finals of the World’s Greatest Horseman and placed third in the coveted Magnificent Seven All Around Stock Horse Championship competition, demonstrating the depth of his versatility in performance events.

His foals have amazing dispositions, great minds and are very easy to train. They are proving to be versatile in their athletic abilities and are excelling both in the ranch and arena.

Bad Bloods sire, the infamous Doc O'Lena's progeny earnings exceeded $14 million in cutting. In 1970, Doc O'Lena won the NCHA futurity with perfect score. He was inducted into the Quarter Horse Hall of Fame in 1997 after his passing in 1993, the same year Bad Blood was born.

Bad Bloods maternal line is as strong as they come. His Dam, Christy Jay was a producer of nearly $270,000 at a time when  mare's attributes were often overlooked.  Christy Jay was also dam to Colonel Freckles, an all-time leading sire of money winners with over $4 million in earnings. Her full sister, Gay Jay was dam to Freckles Playboy.

Bad Blood was purchased by Chad Heyden in 2011.

From his first foal crop out of our mares, it was clear that he would become an integral part of our breeding program for many years to come.
